I love French toast! The combination of slightly crisp edges, the butter, the powdered sugar, the maple syrup and this time the Nutella makes it the best French toast in the world! It doesn't take very much Nutella to make this great!
Makes 10 slices
2 cups milk
3 eggs 2 tbsp flour 1 tsp vanilla Dash of cinnamon 5 tbsp butter 10 slices of bread Nutella Maple syrup Powdered sugar
Combine the milk, eggs, flour, vanilla and cinnamon. Whisk together well. There may be little clumps from the flour, don't worry about that.
I always use butter for French toast. In a skillet, over medium heat add a little of the butter, about 1/2 tablespoon for each slice. As soon as the butter melts and coats the skillet, dip a slice of bread in the mixture and place in the skillet. If the mixture dish is shallow, flip the bread to coat both sides.
Cook for 1-2 minutes per side. Usually 1 minute is enough. It should be golden brown with slightly crispy edges. Remove from the skillet and repeat until the remaining slices are cooked. You will need to whisk the mixture before dipping each slice to keep all the flour from settling to the bottom.
I plate mine as pictured. Sprinkle powdered sugar over the French toast. I only put Nutella on the top edges that are showing on every other slice. I did not put it on the entire slice. This can over power the whole thing. I recommend starting slowly with the maple syrup. I pour as I am eating a slice. I probably used 2 tablespoons for the whole thing. A little goes a long way on this amazing french toast.
